The PATA FX1

was born in August 2014 when the first piece was built in the new mould. The well-known French designer and Finn sailor Jacques Fauroux has optimised the hull lines according to the Finn Class Rules. The result is a great boat moving extremely smooth and with good speed on the waves.

The Finn dinghy is an overpowered system. Therefore the best Finns are cleverly built. Stiff at some parts like the structurally decisive T-form lines of the mast - centerboard - traveller and the hiking areas but soft and flexible on other parts. To build the right hull form and make the boat stiff and soft in the right measure is the secret of a good Finn.

Monsieur Fouroux's main intention was to reduce the fore and aft movements of the boat when beating on the waves. In order to suceed in this object he has increased the volume of the back of the boat. Added a new and clever layer plan and the soft bow the PATA FX1 moves very calmly and efficently through the waves. The longer waterline, the less wetted surface and the almost symmetrycal underwater form at light heelig angle gives extra speed. Altogether the PATA FX1 is a sensibly pliable and fast boat.

The building quality of the PATA Finn is known a long time ago. Our boats do not need any "hull fairing" or such afterworks and are also durable so they keep a good resell value.
